Aesthetics!
Aesthetics is the study of sensory or sensori-emotional values, sometimes called judgments of sentiment and taste. Aesthetics is a subdiscipline of axiology, a branch of philosophy, and is closely associated with the philosophy of art.

Aesthetics is the appearance of a product and the 'feel' of a product. affecting your emotion and senses, these two qualities play an important role when you are choosing a product to buy.

for example, when buying a bag or a new wallet, you might decide which of each to buy using the following elements:
-lines
they are the basic element of design, indicating position, direction and maybe other information. different lines have different feelings.
* vertical lines- demands attentionPhotobucket
* wide and jagged lines- sense of boldness and strengthPhotobucket
* curved lines- smooth and gentlePhotobucket
* slanted lines- movementPhotobucket
* short and crisp lines- youth and funPhotobucket
* lightning or electrical signals- action and energyPhotobucket
* wavy lines- flowing movementPhotobucket
* horizontal lines- passive and motionlessPhotobucket
* delicate and elegant lines- uninterrupted flowPhotobucket
(hahas i know i don't draw well X=)

-shapes
they are 2-D(2 dimensional), there are two types of shapes.
* geometric- straight or regular lines, often symmetrical
Photobucket
* organic- nature, free-flowing and often non-symmetrical
Photobucket
you can also combine shapes to form a more complex shape.
like a circle with two triangles.

-forms
they are 3-D(3 dimensional), they have thickness or depth.
* geometric forms
Photobucket
* organic forms
Photobucket

-colours
colours might be teh first thnig you notice when buying something. it plays an important role.
this is a colour wheelPhotobucket
* neutral colours- they have low saturation and are not bright or intense.
*contrasting colours- complementary colours, directly opposite each other on the colour wheel.
*pastel colours- less intense.

-textures
smooth, rough, bumpy, groovy. they enhances the look of a product.

-proportions
big, tall, small, wide, narrow- they belong to size. size is very important to a design, parts of different sizes look right when fitted together.make sure that the different parts are in proportion together.
like the following picture,
notice that the proportions of the cartoon are different.
which one would you choose?

and thens i finish today's post =D!
hope you learnt something again ^^ =D

Design!
What is Design?=D
Design is:
* the act of working out the form of something,
* plan:make or work out a plan for;devise,
* design something for a specific role or purpose or effect,
* an arrangement scheme,
* create the design for; create or execute in an artistic or highly skilled manner,
* blueprint: something intended as a guide for making something else,
* a decorative or artistic work,
* make a design of; plan out in systematic, often graphic form,
* purpose: an anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions,
* create designs,
* conceive or fashion in the mind; invent,
* a preliminary sketch indicating the plan for something,
* invention: the creation of something in the mind,
*intended, or for a purpose.

Design, considered in the context of applied arts, engineering, architecture, and other creative endeavors, is used both as a noun and a verb. As a verb, "to design" refers to the process of originating and developing a plan for a product, structure, system, or component. As a noun, "a design" is used for both the final (solution) plan or the result of implementing that plan. More recently, processes (in general) have also been treated as products of design, giving new meaning to the term "process design".

Designing requires a designer to consider the aesthetic, functional, and many other aspects of an object or a process, which usually requires considerable research, thought, modeling, interactive adjustment, and re-design.

Now, let's take a look at these designs of chairs!=D
Photobucket
Photobucket
This chair is like a jigsaw puzzle, you have to peice it up to become a chair!=D
In my opinion, this chair looks quite unstable as it does not rely on screws or any other devices that sticks or pressing together e.g glue,strings,screws. It is a unique chair.

Here is another chair design
Photobucket
in my opinion, it is a useful and stylish chair as it can be of a 2 seater or 1,
and the shape of the chair is very modern and unique.
it is quite similiar in terms of shape compared to this design:

This design below here;
